What is a Dental Emergency?

A Dental Emergency is when urgent dental care is needed to evaluate a child for pain, discomfort, or swelling. Emergencies can strike at any time. Dr. Chris is skilled at putting the patient and parent at ease, with his calm and comfortable approach, he is always available for an evaluation.

What are some common Dental Emergencies?

A Dental Emergency often leaves a child in pain and dealing discomfort. We provide care for a variety of different emergency situations. Some of the more common emergencies we handle on a daily basis for children include:

  • Pain or toothache
  • Abscess and infections
  • Lost dental filling
  • Trauma
  • Space maintainer breakage
  • Gum irritation due to gingivitis or ulcerations

What can you expect when you bring your child in for a Dental Emergency appointment?

We do our very best to get your child in for an evaluation the same day. If an X-ray is needed, one will be taken. Dr. Chris will discuss the chief complaint with the parent and child, do a complete emergency examination and discuss findings. If treatment is needed, a treatment plan will be created and a discussion will take place about the best way to treat. If there is an infection, an antibiotic may be prescribed. Often for cases of trauma, no treatment is necessary with short and long term monitoring of the affected teeth.

If you have a dental emergency, call our office today and we can work to get you in to be seen as soon as possible.
